A single animal with insatiable hunger can quickly decimate your garden overnight. Dealing with them may seem to be a pain in the neck but it will save you time and energy and will ensure that your garden will remain aesthetically pleasing.

Different Animals That Can Destroy Your Garden

Keeping your Texas garden healthy and fresh will be difficult especially since it is always threatened by pests and nuisance creatures. In this article, we listed some of the animals that will be tempted to invade your property as well as ways on how to get rid of them.

Deer

The grazing of the deer will be evident on the leaves of the plants while leaving the stalks untouched. Deer will be enamored by the scent of the aroma that comes from your garden. In order to avoid them, you need to choose a plant that will not release a powerful aroma. Another way to make sure that they will stay away from your yard is by introducing a sturdy fence. Since they are amazing jumpers, the fence should at least be 8ft high. Organic and machine deterrents may work but only for a short period.

Allen Rabbits

The Texas rabbit infestation will usually occur during the spring season. You will be able to determine their presence through the damages on the seedlings and the young leaves of the plants. In addition, they have a tendency to leave a significant amount of droppings. The rabbits will be enticed by the young and fresh offshoots that are appearing during spring time. Spraying cayenne pepper on the leaves of the plants may sometimes work. Unfortunately, reapplication is necessary which is why it may not be a practical solution. Enclosing your plants with a cage or barrier is still the favorable answer to your rabbit problem.

Squirrels

Squirrels may not be the most common pest in your garden. However, when there is a scarcity in the supply of food, they will dig our plants and destroy their leaves. If you are allowed by your community to relocate them, trapping would be an excellent choice. You need to consider the placement and the bait that you will use when using the trapping method.

Voles

Voles, also known as Texas meadow mice, will dig all over our garden just like the moles. Their digging habit will make them exceptionally hard to deal with. You will not be aware that you have an infestation until you noticed the damages in your garden. When a plant becomes wilted, check if their roots are missing. Removing the debris and trimming the grasses would be an incredible way to stop their activities.

By following some of the tips we mentioned above, you can rest assure that you will not suffer a significant damage in your Allen garden. You can enjoy a fresh and healthy garden every time you wake up.
